Handicap International opened its offices in Montreal (Canada) in 2003.
We are part of an international network which supports and manages nearly 250 projects in more than 60 countries throughout the world, in partnership with local non-governmental associations or organizations. The vision of Handicap International is to promote sustainable change to ensure that people with disabilities, victims of war or natural disasters, and people affected by disease or poverty are treated as full citizens with equal opportunities for community participation. In order to do so, we recruit professional Canadians to work in the field, we raise funds and monitor our current projects in Mozambique, Angola, Burundi and Columbia which are funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Canadian Auto Workers Union Social Justice Fund. We are also running education and outreach programmes to raise awareness and inform the Canadian public about the causes and effects of disabilities.
